From the end we flew to the west of Flores, Labuan not BAJO. A boat took us out of there in 2 hours after Kanawa, a small island that lies between Flores and Komodo. Onto Kanawa We had reserved a bungalow for the next 5 nights.
The very sight from a distance on the island was beautiful: turquoise clear water, blue sky, Sunshine, white sand beach, and a few mountains in the background. We moved into our bungalow and went straight first snorkel in the sea, because right before the “Door” It was a beautiful coral reef.
Over the next two days we dived again. Once in front of the island in the house reef and then to the north of Komodo. Due to the strong currents partially under water a lot more fish came. It was almost like the movies. We held firmly to a stone and just watched what is before us on the big screen happens. So many fish at a time, we had not seen before. Giant colorful schools of fish streamed past us, in between we also saw sharks from time to time, who drew his rounds. With us on the boat yet and Marko Journey from California and Kim Rune from Denmark were respectively. Canada. Rune and Marko knew each other very well with underwater photography and Dopey could therefore also still the same give a few tips.
The other days we spent again with snorkeling in the reef, because there we have discovered from time to time a turtle and even small sharks. We climbed in the evening and once on the island high mountain to watch the sunset from there to.
We also wanted to see the Komodo dragons, that there are only a few to a few Indonesian islands around Flores. With a boat we chugged into over 2 hours to the island of Komodo. Once there we went with a guide, who was armed with a stick, in the national park in search of the unusual animals. The Komodo dragon (Komodo dragons are also called) are very fast and even prey on large animals such as deer or goat. Sorry, but we only saw a few of the animals. But the, we saw, were quite large. Our guide has warned us repeatedly, that we should not get too close to them. On the way back we made a few Kanawa snorkel breaks and saw mantas, beautiful coral and many colorful fish.
After 5 nights at Kanawa we took the boat back to Labuan Bajo. We spent one more night before we continued our trip to Raja Ampat…
