On the way to Windy Harbour in “D'Entrecasteaux Nationalpark” sahen wir zum ersten Mal lebendige Kängurus 🙂 Seppel legte fast eine Vollbremsung hin als ich sagte, I've seen one. And then we discovered next to the road even more of them. They are not so easy to see in the tall grass and the bushes.
In Windy Harbour, a fairly secluded lonely place, We parked our car in a very small campsite right on the sea and first went to the beach. The weather was beautiful, but the water was very cold. Before sunset we drove then to the viewpoint “Point D’Entrecasteaux”. We were here all alone and marveled at the sheer cliffs and the sea views. On the way back to the campsite we saw kangaroos determined 20. Since you have to really care when driving. In the evening it was quite cold. But before Seppel could make us a campfire, we had to get rid of the mosquitoes out of our camper first. So many mosquitoes at once we have never seen. I had been afraid to go to bed, but thanks to the mosquito coils, which we had from Thailand, all mosquitoes were done within 2 minutes. At the campfire we are then made ourselves comfortable and the night came on, unfortunately autumnal rainy weather.
The next morning we started in the rain and it was not even the whole day better. In “Valley of the Giants” We ran into our rain jackets wrapped through a forest with huge trees and “William Bay Nationalpark” we made a short stop at the “Green Pools”, the well would be to bathe in warm weather. Arrived in Albany, we warmed ourselves at the campsite first with hot coffee and tea, because it was really cold and so a weather we were no longer used after 10 months previously heat.
The following day we spent the morning in Albany with a beach walk at Middleton Beach. It was still windy and cloudy, but after noon it was fortunately better. We use and looked at a few sights along the surrounding coast: “The Gap” – a huge crevice in the cliffs, where the waves rushing into it with full force and splashed the water, the “Natural Bridge” – a rock in the sea, looks by erosion as a sculpted stone bridge, and finally the so-called "blowholes", these are columns in the rocks, through which the water is splashed in heavy seas. Unfortunately, the waves were not so high, so that you could see just a bit of water vapor, but it is nevertheless possible that already quite loud and rumbling noises.
Once again we have filled our provisions in Albany, we drove 500km further to Esperance. In over 6 hours drive we saw forests, pass wide cornfields and scrubland to us. In Esperance again we had sunshine and thus perfect weather for the “Great Ocean Drive”. There we saw many great beaches with turquoise waters and fine white sand. Then we pitched our camp in “Cape Le Grand Nationalpark” .. From the campsite we had a great view of the “Lucky Bay "and here there were even kangaroos on the beach!
In Cape Le Grand National Park, there are supposed to be the most beautiful beaches with the whitest sand. The deserted beach at “Thistle Cove "is one of them. The sand was so fine and white, almost like salt. Plus a turquoise blue water, where perfect Beach. On the trail there, we always had to struggle again with the rather annoying flies, but we still enjoyed the wide and beautiful views of the sea and the surrounding area. The way back to Esperance led on the mountain “Frenchman Peak "over and we take the opportunity for advancement. The mountain was quite steep and it was very windy, but from above we had a great view of the National Park and the sea. From Esperance of our road went further north, in the inland to the gold mining town of Kalgoorlie.
